Benson Boone Shines at Coachella with Brian May and Album Announcement
Show-Stopping Coachella Performance
Benson Boone made headlines during his performance on the main stage at Coachella, captivating the audience with a surprise guest appearance from Brian May of Queen. Together, they delivered an electrifying version of the iconic song “Bohemian Rhapsody” followed by Boone’s own hit, “Beautiful Things.”
Boone, who sported a theatrical outfit reminiscent of Freddie Mercury, began the homage to Queen on the piano. As the music swelled, May emerged from atop a stage structure, expertly riffing on his guitar, much to the delight of the audience.
A Flourish of Spectacle
During the closing numbers, Boone expressed his gratitude to May, who remained on stage to contribute Queen-style guitar elements to “Beautiful Things.” He later commented, “It has changed my life this year and I hope you enjoy it,” referring to the impactful performance, which featured stunning pyrotechnics and dynamic flips.
Earlier in the evening, Boone had also taken the opportunity to announce his forthcoming album, titled American Heart, set to release on June 20. He performed the track of the same name against a backdrop celebrating national pride.
Emulating Icons
In recent months, Boone has embraced a performance style influenced by legendary showman Freddie Mercury. His shows frequently incorporate audience engagement through call-and-response segments and extravagant fashion choices, as seen with his eye-catching outfit at the recent Grammys.
In a previous interview with Rolling Stone, Boone highlighted the influence of the 1970s music scene, stating, “It’s not really a song you can half-ass, you know?” while discussing his hit “Beautiful Things.” He also addressed comparisons to iconic performers, emphasizing his unique identity: “I’m Benson Boone! I’m completely different.”
