Alex Warren Continues to Reign at the Top of the U.K. Singles Chart
Chart Performance
Alex Warren’s hit single, “Ordinary,” has successfully claimed the top spot on the U.K. Singles Chart for four consecutive weeks. The track has outperformed a newly released song by Ed Sheeran, titled “Azizam,” which debuted on April 11 and settled at No. 3 by the end of the week.
Sheeran, renowned for his 14 U.K. No. 1 singles—ranking third all-time behind Sir Cliff Richard and Westlife—remains a formidable contender for Warren’s position in the coming week.
Historic Chart Journey
With “Ordinary,” Warren is now tied with Lola Young’s “Messy” for the record of the longest consecutive stay at the top of the Singles Chart in 2025. Additionally, the song has made notable progress on the Billboard Hot 100, achieving a new high of No. 14, rising five spots since last week.
Personal Reflections and Creative Inspiration
In a conversation with Billboard earlier this year, Warren reflected on how his personal struggles, including the loss of his parents and experiences with homelessness, have inspired his songwriting. “I recently started doing this thing where I write about those [experiences], and I try to take control in a way,” he shared. “For me, something really beautiful is taking something so sad and dark, and what most would view as something that ruined their life, and turn it into something that can help people.”
Current Chart Overview
Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club” maintains its position at No. 2 after a two-week reign at the top in March. Meanwhile, Doechii’s “Anxiety” has moved down to No. 4, and Benson Boone’s “Beautiful Things” rounds out the top five at No. 5.
New Entries in the Top Ten
Two notable newcomers have joined the top ten this week:
- WizTheMc, in collaboration with Bees & Honey, celebrates their first top ten hit with “Show Me Love” at No. 8.
- British rock band Sleep Token achieves their highest chart ranking yet with “Caramel,” landing at No. 10.
