Katy Perry’s Historic All-Female Spaceflight
Katy Perry is on the cusp of fulfilling a long-standing dream: venturing into space. The pop icon took to Instagram late last night to share her anticipation for the milestone event scheduled for tomorrow morning.
A Dream Realized
“I’ve dreamt of going to space for 15 years and tomorrow that dream becomes a reality,” Perry enthusiastically shared with her followers. The upcoming mission, dubbed “Taking Up Space,” will lift off at 7 AM CT. Perry expressed her honor in joining an inspiring group of five other remarkable women, marking a significant moment as the first all-female flight aboard a space vessel.

Perry will be part of an elite group of trailblazers, including:
- Gayle King, broadcast journalist
- Amanda Nguyen, activist
- Kerianne Flynn, movie producer
- Lauren Sánchez, entertainment reporter and fiancée of Jeff Bezos
- Aisha Bowe, aerospace engineer and former NASA employee
The Journey Ahead
This flight will utilize Blue Origin’s New Shepard spacecraft, representing its 31st mission overall and 11th with human passengers. In her reflective behind-the-scenes video, Perry showcased her capsule attire, complete with a personalized seat marked “K. Perry.” She alluded to the unique opportunity of performing music in zero gravity, commenting, “I gotta to sing in space.”
Empowering the Next Generation
Perry conveyed her aspirations for the flight, hoping to inspire young girls and future generations: “I am talking to myself every day and going, ‘You’re brave, you’re bold. You are doing this for the next generation to inspire so many different people but especially young girls to go, ‘I’ll go to space in the future.’ No limitations.”
The pop star also expressed enthusiasm for the engineering challenges involved in space travel, stating, “I’m excited to learn more about STEM and just the math about what it takes to accomplish this type of thing.”
