How Andi Krush And Chico Bennett Created An Intimate Pop EP That Turns Personal Trauma Into Powerful Music.

Before the lights of Los Angeles studios, before club charts and international listeners, the songs of Andi Krush began as private conversations. They were not written for radio or recognition. They were written to survive difficult memories.

When Krush entered the studio to record Shadows Run, his debut EP, he did not arrive with a polished pop formula or a predetermined sound. Instead he brought fragments of stories, unfinished melodies, and emotional truths he had carried for years.

Working alongside Grammy winning producer Chico Bennett, Krush transformed those fragments into a deeply personal project that blends atmospheric pop with confessional storytelling. Rather than hiding vulnerability behind production, the two artists leaned directly into it.

The result is Shadows Run, an EP that explores fear, healing, identity, and resilience through six songs that feel as much like diary entries as they do pop records.

The Creative Partnership Behind Shadows Run

To understand the emotional depth of the EP, it helps to understand the partnership between Andi Krush and Chico Bennett. Bennett has built a reputation for helping artists translate personal stories into polished records without losing authenticity.

Krush arrived in Los Angeles with raw honesty and a willingness to explore difficult themes. Bennett recognized that honesty immediately.

Instead of pushing Krush toward commercial trends, Bennett focused on creating a sonic environment that supported the emotional weight of the songs. Recording sessions often took place in smaller rooms to capture intimacy. Ambient sounds and room tone were intentionally preserved rather than eliminated.

This approach gave the EP a sense of presence that many pop projects lack. Listeners feel close to the voice, the lyrics, and the emotion behind them.

Track One: Take It Away

The EP begins with Take It Away, a song that introduces one of the central emotional tensions of the project.

Early demos were minimal and introspective, built around piano and soft vocal lines. Bennett suggested a different direction. He wanted the track to exist between two emotional spaces.

Dancefloor energy and confessional pop.

Krush later recalled the conversation.

Chico told me this song should make people want to move but also make them feel understood.

The finished version balances rhythmic momentum with reflective lyrics. The song explores the paradox of wanting to escape pain while still feeling tied to it.

Take It Away gained unexpected momentum when DJs began testing it in Los Angeles clubs. The single eventually reached number fourteen on the UK Music Week Club Chart, introducing Krush to a broader international audience.

Track Two: All In My Brain

If the opening track invites listeners into Krush’s world, All In My Brain reveals the internal dialogue that shapes it.

The song explores the thoughts that often remain unspoken. Doubt, memory, anxiety, and reflection all surface in the lyrics.

Bennett intentionally kept the production restrained in the verses so that Krush’s voice would remain the emotional center. Subtle synth layers add atmosphere while leaving space for the words to resonate.

During one recording session Krush stopped mid take.

He later explained that hearing certain lyrics aloud brought back memories he had not fully processed.

Rather than cutting the take, Bennett encouraged him to keep that emotional tension in the performance. The result is one of the most intimate moments on the EP.

Track Three: Turn It On

While many songs on Shadows Run explore vulnerability, Turn It On examines a different aspect of identity.

Performance.

The track explores how artists and individuals sometimes construct confidence as a form of protection. The lyrics describe the experience of switching into a stronger public persona while privately carrying emotional weight.

Early versions of the track leaned heavily toward electronic pop. During production, Krush and Bennett chose to incorporate live bass and organic rhythmic textures.

The subtle imperfections in the instrumentation give the song a human quality that mirrors its theme.

Rather than celebrating confidence, the track questions it.

Track Four: Beautiful (When Ur In My World)

At the emotional center of the EP lies Beautiful (When Ur In My World).

Unlike the surrounding tracks, this song unfolds slowly through layered harmonies and delicate instrumentation. Piano, guitar, and vocal textures move gently through the arrangement.

Bennett described the production approach simply.

The song does not need power. It needs presence.

Krush explained that the song was not written about a specific romantic relationship. Instead it reflects moments of clarity that appear unexpectedly during periods of struggle.

Moments when the world feels peaceful, even if only briefly.

The accompanying music video, co-directed by Bennett and filmmaker Christopher Broughton, captures this idea through soft lighting, natural landscapes, and quiet emotional expressions.

Track Five: Silly Bout You

The fifth track offers a moment of warmth within the EP’s emotional intensity.

Despite its playful title, Silly Bout You remains sincere and vulnerable. The song explores affection without dramatic declarations.

During early recording sessions Krush wondered if the song might feel too gentle compared with the rest of the project.

Bennett disagreed.

He believed the softness of the track provided balance. After all, emotional honesty includes tenderness as well as confrontation.

The final arrangement keeps the instrumentation minimal, allowing Krush’s voice to carry the sentiment.

Track Six: Shadows Run

The closing track and title song ties the themes of the EP together.

Shadows Run reflects on memory, identity, and the idea that personal struggles do not disappear completely. Instead they move alongside us as we grow.

The production gradually expands throughout the track. A pulsing bass line establishes momentum while layered strings and synth textures create a sense of emotional movement.

Krush described the song as representing the parts of ourselves that remain difficult to fully understand.

The shadows never disappear, he once said. They run with you.

In many ways, the track summarizes the EP’s central message. Healing is not about forgetting the past. It is about learning how to move forward while carrying it.

Themes Of Trauma And Healing

What sets Shadows Run apart from many debut projects is its willingness to confront difficult experiences directly.

Krush has spoken publicly about childhood sexual abuse and the long emotional impact that followed. He has also discussed struggles with post traumatic stress disorder and the role that music played in helping him process those experiences.

These themes are not presented as spectacle or shock value. Instead they form the emotional foundation of the EP.

Songwriting became a method of reflection and transformation.

Krush once described the experience of performing these songs in a simple way.

When I sing about something painful it does not disappear. But it changes shape.

Through music, memories that once felt overwhelming become part of a larger narrative of resilience.

The Beginning Of A Global Artist

Although Shadows Run marks the beginning of Andi Krush’s public career, it also signals the arrival of an artist shaped by both European roots and the collaborative energy of Los Angeles.

His sound blends atmospheric pop with alternative influences, drawing inspiration from artists such as Post Malone, The Cure, and Arctic Monkeys. At the same time, his songwriting remains grounded in personal storytelling.

As Krush continues developing new music, his work is expected to explore broader sonic landscapes while maintaining the emotional honesty that defines Shadows Run.
