Pit Stop Nostalgia: Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt’s Go-Kart Races on Set
Recollections from the Set of ‘Interview with the Vampire’
During a presentation at CinemaCon, Tom Cruise shared fond memories from his time working with Brad Pitt on the set of the 1994 film, Interview with the Vampire. The actor revealed that to relax after grueling days of filming, they would often engage in competitive go-kart racing.
Cruise Praises Pitt’s Driving Skills
Referencing Pitt’s upcoming film, F1, where the latter plays a retired Formula 1 driver, Cruise expressed his admiration for Pitt’s driving capabilities. “He’s a very good driver,” said Cruise. “Believe me, I’ve raced against him.”
Upcoming Film: ‘F1’
F1, directed by Joe Kosinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, stars Pitt as he makes a return to the racing world. Cruise expressed eagerness about its release, stating, “I can’t wait to see that this summer. It’ll be awesome.” The film is set to hit theaters on June 27.
Behind the Scenes: A Mixed Experience
While Cruise fondly remembers the go-kart races that offered levity amidst their intense work schedule, Pitt has previously described the filming experience of Interview with the Vampire as challenging. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, he referred to the shoot as “miserable,” remarking that it felt like “six months in the f***ing dark.”
Looking Back and Moving Forward
While the film does not feature the characters Louis and Lestat engaged in go-kart racing, it concludes with Cruise’s character enjoying a joyride in a convertible—a nod to their playful off-screen rivalry.
