A nonprofit organization known as the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) is mobilizing support for those affected by the recent wildfires in Los Angeles and nearby regions. This initiative is backed by notable figures from Hollywood, including Sherry Lansing and Chris Silverman from Creative Artists Agency (CAA). The program aims to raise funds for firefighters, first responders, and the communities impacted by these devastating fires.
The new initiative is titled “Defy: Disaster,” and is sponsored by City National Bank. It follows EIF’s response to the 2023 Maui Fires, which successfully channeled $60 million to aid residents who lost their homes. The organization’s President and CEO, Nicole Sexton, expressed empathy for those affected, emphasizing the pressing need for shelter, food, water, medical care, and provisions for displaced pets.
EIF has a history of aiding disaster relief efforts. In 2020, they and their philanthropic partners contributed more than $14 million to over 100 organizations aimed at disaster response. Additionally, in the aftermath of the Camp and Woolsey fires in 2018, EIF donated over $2 million to support first responders and provide long-term assistance to survivors in California. The organization is committed to continuing its support for those affected by natural disasters.
