Erivo expressed her fondness for how the characters rally around their friend, which she referred to as an “army of little girls” trying to protect her. This sentiment highlights the importance of female solidarity in the narrative.

One of the scenes they both found intriguing involved a conversation between Elphaba and Me, where they discuss Nessarose’s feelings for Fiyero. Erivo described this moment as “really cool,” while Grande recalled a particular line from that scene as one of the best in the movie. Erivo also mentioned another deleted scene between Elphaba and Fiyero in the Forest of Oz, where Fiyero learns to hold a lion cub, adding layers to their interactions.

Despite “Wicked” only covering the first act of the musical and being about the same length as the stage production, it’s surprising that several scenes were left out. There is anticipation for the second act, titled “Wicked: For Good,” which is set to be released in 2025, and director Jon M. Chu will continue to explore the story in this next installment.

Jonathan Bailey, who portrays Fiyero, hinted at a shift in tone for the second film, indicating that while the world portrayed may become heavier and more complex, it will still encompass themes of hope and resilience. Erivo is currently busy with various projects amid her appearance at several award shows, emphasizing her commitment to work while enjoying her time in the spotlight.
