Young Thug has made a return to music by collaborating on Future’s track “Dum, Dum and Dumber,” featured on Lil Baby’s new album “WHAM.” This release comes shortly after Young Thug faced a prison sentence of over two years linked to the lengthy YSL RICO case.
Thug captured his feelings about his incarceration in his verses, expressing disbelief at being “trapped.” He had been arrested on racketeering charges in May 2022 and remained in jail while awaiting the outcome of a case that has been described as the longest in Georgia’s history.
In October, Young Thug reached a plea agreement, pleading guilty to drug possession and firearm charges, while entering a no-contest plea on some lesser charges. His sentence included a year of probation.
Gunna, another member of the YSL group, was also arrested in May 2022 as part of a broader 56-count indictment. However, he secured his release in December 2022 after accepting an Alford plea. Despite their past connections, Gunna has faced allegations regarding his conduct towards fans, and his relationship with Lil Baby has soured.
In response to ongoing speculation, Gunna’s attorney, Steve Sadow, emphasized that Gunna did not cooperate with law enforcement and did not jeopardize Young Thug’s case in any way. Sadow’s statement was shared publicly, asserting Gunna’s intentions during the legal battle.
Young Thug has not publicly clarified his stance on Gunna since an ambiguous tweet from November, where he distanced himself from Gunna. The tweet was quickly deleted, leaving ambiguity in their relationship. Fans can now hear Young Thug’s latest performance on the track with Lil Baby.
