It’s time to show off your insane singing skills, because Wicked released a much-talked-about singalong version of the movie soundtrack on Friday (December 20th) via Universal Pictures/Republic Records/Verve Records. has arrived.
Fans can channel Ariana Grande as Glinda and Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba as they sing along with a cinematic orchestra and cast of background vocalists. On Christmas Day, Universal Pictures will also release choral screenings of Wicked in more than 1,000 theaters in the U.S., Canada, and select international markets. The latest version of the soundtrack follows Wicked’s historic opening month, which has grossed more than $359 million at the domestic box office to date, making it the highest-grossing film ever adapted from a Broadway musical. It will be released. The soundtrack also did well, recently debuting at number 2 on the Billboard 200. This was the highest debut ever for a film adaptation of a stage musical on the chart.
Both Grande and Erivo have been nominated for Golden Globe Awards, with Erivo nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy, and Grande nominated for Best Supporting Actress. Wicked as a whole won the Critics’ Choice Award for Best Picture and Best Acting Ensemble.
