Weezer’s Coachella 2025 Performance amid Personal Challenges
On April 12, 2025, Weezer took the stage at Coachella for Day 2 of the festival, performing a collection of popular hits without directly referencing ongoing personal matters concerning bassist Scott Shriner.
Incident Involving Scott Shriner’s Wife
Jillian Shriner, an author known by her pen name Jillian Lauren and wife of bassist Scott Shriner, was involved in an incident that led to her arrest on April 8, 2025. Following a non-life-threatening gunshot wound inflicted by police during a situation arising from a hit-and-run chase, Jillian was taken into custody in Los Angeles.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), the incident began when officers were pursuing a fleeing suspect who attempted to enter the Shriner family property. During the altercation, Jillian allegedly discharged her weapon at the suspect and pointed it at officers, leading to a police officer’s return fire that resulted in her injury.
She was later treated for her shoulder wound and then booked on charges of attempted murder. Reports indicate that she secured a $1 million bail and was subsequently released from custody.
Weezer’s Performance Highlights
Despite these personal challenges, Scott Shriner confirmed that Weezer would perform at Coachella, stating, “She’s alright, thank you for asking,” while opting not to delve into further details about the incident. Their set was filled with fan favorites and included the following tracks:
