Elden Ring is a huge and scary game. Its massive open world easily takes over 100 hours to complete, and with so many dungeons, paths, and areas to get lost in, the first few hours can be a struggle. If you’re finally getting into the game, here are some important locations and areas to visit.
This guide covers the first main location, side dungeons, and some items that give boosts.
Places to visit and things to do first in Elden Ring
Here are the main activities and areas to visit first at Elden Ring.
Eley Church Malika Third Church Fort Height Castle Morne
Most of these locations are located in Rimgrave and nearby Mistwood. Therefore, there is no need to explore beyond the first area where you started the game.
Elle church
Elleh Church is located just north of where you exit “The First Step Site of Grace” in the game (after waking up in Rimgrave). Walk or run past the Tree Sentinel completely and enter the church ruins to find Merchant Kale.
Here you can purchase craft kits to make essential travel items.
Marika Third Church
Off to the east, you can follow the main path from the Gatefront ruins in front of Stormveil Castle. Continue following the main road northeast until you cross under the remains of a building. Follow the path up to the church ahead and you’ll find the Third Church of Marika. There you will find the first items needed for a flask and a flask of mysterious physics.
fort haight
Keyneth Haight is on the remains of the building we passed to get to Marika Third Church. He asks you to visit Fort Haight to help conquer Rimgrave. This can be found through the Misty Forest south of his location. After clearing the fort, return to him to get a handy dagger.
Morne Castle
Morne Castle is located at the southernmost tip of the map, beyond the Weeping Peninsula. If you don’t want to go to the more difficult areas to the north, this is the place to be, as there’s a lot of good equipment and upgrades.
