Stevie Nicks Announces New Album and Upcoming Tour
Stevie Nicks, the iconic voice of Fleetwood Mac, has officially confirmed she is in the process of creating a new studio album, her first in 14 years. The announcement came during her induction into the Pollstar Hall of Fame, presented by music executive Jimmy Iovine.
Insights into the New Album
While addressing the audience, Nicks described the project as the “Ghost” record, a title she coined recently as the inspiration flowed naturally. “I am actually making a record right now,” she stated, sharing that she has completed seven songs that draw from her personal life.
Nicks emphasized the autobiographical nature of these tracks, stating, “They are real stories, memories of mine, of fantastic men,” marking a departure from her previously enigmatic lyrical style. She expressed that for the first time, she would not be “pulling any punches.”
Personal Inspirations Behind the Music
The songwriter revealed that her creative drive stemmed from reflections on her friendship with the late Prince. Recalling a significant encounter with him following the premiere of Purple Rain, she humorously described being so overwhelmed that she had to excuse herself during the film. Among the memories she shared was a moment when she gifted Prince a beautiful 24-carat necklace. His poignant response, “You never bring me you,” left a lasting impression.
Nicks also hinted at Iovine being a potential subject of her songwriting, referencing their past relationship in the early 1980s.
Recent Experiences and Tour Plans
This new material was partly inspired by her experience during the recent wildfires that forced her to evacuate her Los Angeles residence. In addition to working on her album, Nicks has revealed dates for her solo North American tour slated for 2025.
