The upcoming Simpsons holiday special, “Oh Come on All Ye Faithful,” is musically powered by some of music’s most experienced Christmas carolers, Pentatonix and Patti LaBelle.
As announced on Wednesday (December 11), the a cappella group and “On My Own” singer will be making 12 episodes on Disney+, exactly 35 years after the original Simpsons holiday special aired in 1989. Music performances will be featured in two episodes that will be premiered on the 17th of the month. “Celebrate the holidays with a two-episode holiday special,” the teaser says, featuring the Simpsons matriarch sporting a white beard, riding a parade float, getting taped by police on the street, and crashing his homemade sleigh into Moe’s Tavern. It is written in between the shots.
Pentatonix and Labelle – Scott Hoying, Mitch Grassi, Kirstin Maldonado, Matt Saleh and Kevin Olusola – don’t appear in the trailer, and Disney+ hasn’t revealed details about their performances. However, both bands are known for their Christmas music, with vocal group A Pentatonix Christmas spending two weeks atop the Billboard 200 in 2016, and soloist A Pentatonix spending two weeks atop the Billboard 200 in 1990. She has twice ranked on Billboard’s Top Holiday Albums chart with “This Christmas” and 2007’s “Miss Patty’s Christmas.”
