The London Philharmonic Orchestra has partnered with Foresee Films and Women in Film Los Angeles to highlight global sexism in a powerful way through music.
LPO has interpreted the original song that will become the soundtrack for the Oscar-nominated Best Live-Action Short Black-and-White film, About Mannequin, and shared it exclusively with Billboard. The 40-minute project stars one of Kazakhstan’s most beloved actresses, Ayanat Ismagambetova, and tells the story of a cursed wedding dress in a mysterious bridal shop and a woman who must be freed from its curse. draw
The film, directed by Arshan Dossimkoca, was nominated for an Oscar in the short film category.
“The London Philharmonic Orchestra is delighted to be contributing to this project that captures the magic of the silent era. The music and great acting come together to tell an extraordinary story,” said LPO chief executive David. Mr. Burke said. “The film’s original music, recorded by players, captures the essence of this timely story of a brave woman’s conquest against oppression.”
Ismagambetova added: “Making ‘About Mannequin’ was a lifelong dream. I am proud to have created a film about brave women who triumph over oppression under the most difficult circumstances.”
