Public Image Ltd Unveils New Logo Ahead of Tour
John Lydon, the iconic frontman of Public Image Ltd (PiL), has introduced a refreshed logo in anticipation of the band’s upcoming headline tour across the UK and Ireland. This new design marks a significant chapter in the band’s legacy.
Evolution of the PiL Logo
The original PiL logo, featuring the acronym within a pill-like design, has become a defining symbol in the post-punk genre. The lowercase “i” was intended to represent the breaking point of the pill itself.
The newly designed logo reflects what Lydon describes as “a new beginning” for PiL. This iteration adopts a diamond shape and a more jagged typeface. It will accompany the existing logo on merchandise instead of replacing it. Lydon clarified on X/Twitter, saying, “The new logo is NOT a replacement, it’s an addition. They will work in conjunction. This is PiL.”
Merchandise and Legal Dispute
This new logo will be prominently featured on merchandise for the 2025 tour. Exclusive designs showcasing this fresh artwork are already available on the PiL webstore.
To celebrate a new beginning for PiL, John has designed a new logo, to run in conjunction with the existing logo. The new logo will be used on a selection of the 2025 tour merchandise.

Current developments have surfaced regarding a legal dispute between Lydon and designer Dennis Morris over the original logo. Lydon asserts that he originated the pill design concept, entrusting Morris to finalize the visuals. However, Morris contends that he was the one who proposed the pill format and sketched the logo first.

Lydon is also planning a spoken word tour in the UK and Ireland for the following autumn, further showcasing his enduring passion for performance and connection with audiences.
