Jay Weinberg, the former drummer of Slipknot, has announced plans to release his debut solo album this year. After being a part of Slipknot since 2014, Weinberg was let go from the band in November 2023. He is now drumming for Suicidal Tendencies and revealed his intentions for the new year through a social media post.
In his announcement, Weinberg expressed excitement about recording music he has been working on since his early 20s. He mentioned that he recently picked up the guitar again, which reignited his inspiration for these songs. He is looking forward to sharing his music and aims to release new material within the year.
Following his departure from Slipknot, Weinberg shared his feelings of heartbreak and surprise regarding the band’s decision. He indicated that he was still processing the experience, which spanned over a decade with the group.
Meanwhile, Slipknot has recently concluded a tour and is planning to return to Europe in June. In discussions about future music, the band’s members have hinted at several albums in the pipeline, with ongoing preparations for a long-awaited release called “Look Outside Your Window.”
Overall, both Weinberg and Slipknot appear to be focusing on new creative paths as they move forward in their respective careers.
