How To Buy Tickets In New York And Los Angeles

UPDATE: “The Brutalist” is coming to Imax. Tickets are available for early access screenings in New York and Los Angeles on December 18th. The film will then expand to Imax screens across the United States during January.

Previously: A24 announced the first 70mm screening of “The Brutalist,” which will be shown in special format in New York City and Los Angeles on December 19th.

Tickets are available at Village East Cinema in New York and Vista Theater in Los Angeles. Additional cities and dates will be announced soon.

The three-hour-plus epic directed by Brady Corbet and starring Adrien Brody, The Brutalist was shot in VistaVision, a high-definition format with a wider field of view, and projected in 70mm for better clarity. The film carried four miles of celluloid film, weighing a whopping 259 pounds.

Participants in the 70mm shoot will receive a set of collectible pamphlets and postcards showcasing the work of the film’s central character, the fictional architect Laslo Toth, played by Brody. All tickets come with a commemorative poster.

The Brutalist is Corbett’s third film, following The Childhood of a Leader and Vox Lux, and is being tipped as a major Oscar contender. Chief film critic Owen Gleiberman praised the film in his review for Variety magazine, writing that it was “paced with a pleasant sense of style, and full of incident and emotion.”

The film, priced at the shockingly low price of $10 million, follows a visionary architect and Holocaust survivor as he attempts to rebuild his life in post-war America. Initially forced into hard labor in poverty, Laszlo soon wins a contract that changes the course of his life. “The Brutalist” had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival on September 1st. In the United States, it will be released in limited release on December 20th, ahead of the nationwide release in January.
