The American post-hardcore band Thursday has released a new single titled “Taking Inventory Of A Frozen Lake” on Thursday. This track is produced by Stuart Richardson and features heavy drumming and gritty guitar riffs. The lyrics, delivered by frontman Jeff Rickley, explore themes of introspection and grappling with past experiences.
The band shared in an Instagram post that the song was created during a break while touring with My Chemical Romance (MCR) in 2022 at a studio in Jersey. They describe the lyrics as reflecting the deep, dark moments people experience when they confront their histories, evoking a familiar feeling from their earlier music during the Full Collapse era.
This release follows several other singles from the band, including “White Bikes” and “Application For Release From the Dream,” the latter being their first new material in over a decade. A limited 12-inch vinyl of “Taking Inventory Of A Frozen Lake” has also been released, featuring “White Bikes” as the B-side.
Thursday is set to embark on a US, UK, and European tour starting later this month, alongside other bands like Silverstein and Split Chain. Fans can find their tour dates online, with concerts scheduled across various cities through January and February 2025.
Additionally, Thursday will support My Chemical Romance on their Long Live the Black Parade 2025 North American Stadium Tour, beginning in August 2025 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. The release of their new single and the upcoming tours indicate an active and engaging period for the band as they continue to connect with their audience.
