Dani Filth, the frontman of Cradle of Filth, has revealed details about the band’s upcoming album titled “The Screaming of the Valkyries,” which is set for release in April. In an interview with Metal Hammer, Filth shared that the album will revisit elements from previous works, specifically “Dusk…And Her Embrace” and “Midian,” offering a blend of familiar sounds and themes. He noted improvements in direction thanks to producer Scott Atkins.
Filth clarified that the album will not be a concept album, stating that creating such works is challenging due to the strict focus required. Instead, “The Screaming of the Valkyries” will consist of nine standalone songs, devoid of guest appearances or additional intros and outros. This announcement contradicts previous discussions about a collaboration with pop artist Ed Sheeran, which Filth confirmed would not be included in the album. He explained that although the collaboration was complete and mixed, logistical issues with Sheeran’s management prevented its inclusion.
There was speculation about the partnership with Sheeran since 2021, with Filth revealing that the pop star had expressed interest in collaborating, even inviting him to his home. Despite various updates suggesting that progress was being made, including plans for a video, the collaboration has yet to materialize, and Filth hinted it might not be released until 2025.
In addition to the album news, Cradle of Filth is scheduled to perform at the Download Festival in the UK in 2025. Filth has also expressed his negative views on artificial intelligence in music, labeling it as problematic.
