Gracie Abrams and Heidi Gardner are big fans of Chris Rock in a surprising way.
Rock is set to host Saturday Night Live this weekend with Abrams as the musical guest. In a new promo for the episode released on Thursday (December 12), Gardner tells the comedian that he’s starring in both her and Abrams’ “absolute favorite movies in the world.”
Locke cited “Madagascar” and the “Grown Ups” series as the movies it seems to be talking about, but Abrams said the film in question was actually 2001’s “Pootie Tang” and that Gardner He surprised Rock by revealing that he had quoted a line from Rock’s “Wa Da Ta.”
The “I Miss You, I’m Sorry” singer-songwriter’s first appearance on SNL will be Rock’s fourth time hosting the show. The performance caps off an explosive year for Abrams, who opened for Taylor Swift on her Elas tour earlier this month. Since its release in October, her song “That’s So True” has gained some serious momentum, thanks in part to a boost from TikTok’s virality. The song peaked at number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100.
