Last night (December 23), Grande posted an excerpt of a new live performance of the song from 2014 on Instagram, not only to usher in the Christmas season, but also to celebrate the song’s 10th anniversary.
She wrote on social media: “Celebrating 10 years of ‘Santa Tell Me’! Thank you so much for all the love you’ve shown this record over the past 10 years. I wish you all a happy and happy holiday! ”
She also shares the entire performance on YouTube. You can see it below. According to the video, the performance was recorded during her “Eternal Sunshine” sessions earlier this year, where she performed other songs to promote her latest album.
The release of this performance comes after Spotify named Grande’s “Santa Tell Me” the most streamed Christmas song of the 2010s and the third most streamed Christmas song of all time behind Wham!’s “Last Christmas.” This took place a few days after the announcement that it was a song. And Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You.”
Since the release of Grande’s “Eternal Sunshine,” she has only performed live twice: on Saturday Night Live and at the 2024 Met Gala. She recently revealed that while “music will always be a part of my life,” she doesn’t expect to return to it “any time soon.” For now, she plans to focus on her acting career and is gearing up for 2025’s Wicked: For Good.
In his four-star review of Wicked, Nick Levine wrote for NME: Importantly, they also have crackling chemistry, punctuated by Erivo’s explosive intensity and Grande’s deft comic timing. You won’t quite be able to lift yourself out of your seat by the end, but you’ll definitely be captivated enough to stream the soundtrack on your way home. Funny, colorful, and full of empathy for outsiders, this movie is very Shizu. ”
