Band Background
This tour follows Blink-182’s 2024 world tour and their recent album, One More Time…, released in 2023. This album marks the return of founding members Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge, and Travis Barker, following DeLonge’s departure in 2015. DeLonge’s return was significant, especially considering Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba filled in during his absence, recording two albums alongside the band.
Collaboration and Farewells
Though Matt Skiba left Blink-182 after DeLonge’s reunion with the band, he made a special appearance during a benefit concert for the Los Angeles fires earlier this year. The Alkaline Trio will be the supporting act for Blink-182 on all non-festival dates of the tour.
Band Dynamics and Personal Journeys
In a heartfelt letter to Skiba, DeLonge expressed gratitude for keeping the band alive during his hiatus, acknowledging Skiba’s immense talent and contributions. Hoppus, who released his memoir Fahrenheit-182 recently, shared that his personal battle with lymphoma brought about healing in his friendship with DeLonge. He noted that, despite the challenges of his illness, it fostered reconnections with friends he had lost touch with over the years.
What’s Next for the Bands?
In addition to their upcoming tour and album promotions, reports suggest that the legendary ska-punk band Sublime is working on their first new album since 1996, featuring drummer Travis Barker.
