Dave Mustaine Confirms Lisa Marie Presley Was Considered for Megadeth Duet
In a recent interview, Megadeth’s frontman, Dave Mustaine, disclosed that iconic singer Lisa Marie Presley was among those approached to feature in a duet for the band’s classic track, “A Tout Le Monde.” This revelation sheds light on the song’s journey and its evolution over the years.
A Tout Le Monde: A Brief Overview
Originally featured on Megadeth’s 1994 album Youthanasia, “A Tout Le Monde” quickly became a fan favorite. When it first debuted, the track was performed solely by Mustaine. However, thirteen years later, the band aimed to revitalize the piece with a new version entitled “A Tout Le Monde (Set Me Free),” which included vocals by Cristina Scabbia, the lead singer of Lacuna Coil. This updated rendition was released as part of their 2007 album United Abominations.
Initial Considerations for Collaboration
While Scabbia eventually lent her voice to the reimagined track, Mustaine revealed during his conversation with Metal Hammer that Presley was not the first artist he contacted. Initially, he considered two other unnamed singers before reaching out to Presley.
Unfortunately, the collaboration did not materialize as planned. Mustaine recounted a moment of awkwardness when he had to decline Presley’s participation at the last moment, stating, “She was literally getting onto the plane.”
Reflecting on this decision, Mustaine expressed a tinge of regret, saying, “I would have loved to have heard what Lisa Marie Presley would have done.”
